What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Team position at Hakes Sash & Door Inc?
FUNCTIONAL ROLE
The basic function of the Manufacturing Team is to complete the Customer custom work orders for wood products and to ensure that all work is performed at maximum efficiency and at minimum cost.
This position is very hands on position and will required the majority of your time on the production floor working closely with other production personnel to accomplishing production objectives. In addition, make sure that established company policies and all safety regulations are followed.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Required: High School Graduate
Preferred: Same as above.
Experience:
Required: Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred: Experience working in a custom wood manufacturing industry.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Must be able to follow a production schedule.
- Must be proficient in mathematics to perform the functions listed below such as bends and angles.
- Must be able to read and effectively communicate thoughts and ideas orally and in written form to all employees of HSD.
- Must be able to have basic working knowledge and diagnose the equipment used in a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to multitask and work in different areas in the production shop.
- Must have a keen eye for detail and be detail oriented.
- Must be skilled at safely using the following tools:
- Tape Measure
- Chop Saw
- Table Saw
- Sanders
- Jig Saw
- Finish Nail Gun
- Hot Glue Guns
- Plainer
- Routers
Physical:
- Standing for an extended length of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of wood products.
- Must have the use of hands to satisfactorily use tools.
Working conditions:
It will require majority of your time in the production area where conditions are hot, cold, noisy, dirty, and dusty. Working near moving mechanical parts or machinery.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Manufacturing Team reports to the Team Leader. In the absence of the Team Leader will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
To comply with all OSHA and HSD Safety policies and standards.
To keep the Team Lead or Manufacturing Supervisor informed in a timely manner of any issue that will delay the completion of a job on time.
Notify the Team Lead or the Manufacturing Supervisor of all damaged equipment and materials.
To achieve preset levels of performance in terms of quantity and quality of work produced.
Excellent housekeeping habits are maintained throughout the shop.
Assigned jobs are completed within specifications and time constraints.
Review job orders to determine work priorities.
To check all equipment, machines, and materials list prior to the start of a job to ensure the smooth flow of work and on-time job completion.
To work in concert with the Team Lead and Manufacturing Supervisor pertaining to production, coordination, and quality of jobs.
To recommend changes in design immediately to the Team Lead or Manufacturing Supervisor to improve fit and condition of the product.
To apply yourself to learn cross-functional duties within the entire production area, this includes Cutting & Assembly or Exterior Frames.
Be precise and accurate in your assigned duties to cut down on waste and cost.
To properly fill out production records.
To ensure that the quality of work done meets or exceed customer expectations and HSD Quality Standards.
To double check all work orders for accuracy and completeness.
To adhere with all company policies and procedures.
To complete any additional assignments as requested by the Team Lead or Manufacturing Supervisor.
