Hakuchō is a modern izakaya-style restaurant dedicated to providing a Japanese-inspired dining experience, bringing new flavors and experiences to our local culinary scene. Our menu features a selection of small plates, yakitori, katsus, as well as specialty cocktails, beer, and sake. We aim to provide a casual yet elevated setting for our guests to be able to commune over drinks and bar-style bites, typical of our favorite izakaya experiences in Japan.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a skilled server to join our service team and ensure the highest standards of hospitality and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. As a server at Hakuchō, you will play a key role in shaping the dining experience and fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome customers upon arrival and assist them in finding an appropriate table.
• Provide menus and inform guests about daily specials or promotions.
• Politely and attentively take food and beverage orders from customers.
• Answer any questions about menu items, preparation methods, or ingredients.
• Recommend dishes and beverages to enhance the dining experience.
• Upsell additional items or special promotions when appropriate.
• Ensure accurate transcription of customer orders and any special requests.
• Communicate dietary restrictions or allergies to the kitchen staff.
• Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders.
• Monitor the pacing of tables to provide a seamless dining experience.
• Maintain knowledge of the restaurant's drink menu and recommend pairings.
• Keep track of customer orders and manage the check/bill accurately.
• Process payments and return change promptly.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of tables.
• Clear dishes and reset tables for the next guests.
• Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any concerns or special requests.
• Provide a high level of customer service to enhance the overall dining experience.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service.
• Collaborate with other servers to manage multiple tables efficiently.
• Stay informed about the menu, including daily specials, ingredients, and preparation methods.
• Answer customer questions regarding the menu confidently.
• Attend training sessions to enhance product knowledge.
• Follow hygiene and safety guidelines, including proper handling of food and adherence to sanitation standards.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns professionally and promptly.
• Seek assistance from management when necessary.
• Assist in closing procedures, including cleaning and organizing the dining area.
• Prepare for the next shift by restocking necessary items.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience as a server or in the hospitality industry is preferred.
• Friendly and personable with a focus on delivering a positive guest experience.
• Clear and effective verbal communication to take orders, provide recommendations, and interact with guests and team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tables efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems for order entry and payment processing is helpful.
• Basic math skills for calculating bills, processing payments, and making change.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, often for the duration of a shift.
• Must be able to lift and carry trays, dishes, and other items up to 30 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a busy environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Punctual, reliable, and committed to maintaining a professional appearance.
• Adherence to the restaurant’s uniform and grooming standards.
• 1-2 years of experience required.

• $9.89/hr plus tips. Hours during the first month of opening will be increased but you will be receiving overtime for any hours above 40.
