What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at Hal Hays Construction, Inc.?
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work on the yellow iron (CAT, John Deere, etc.) at our equipment yard in Yucaipa, CA.
General Job Description: You'll be part of a friendly and fast paced working environment, both in the construction yard and at various job sites when required, repairing and maintaining our yellow iron.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Must provide own set of tools
- Maintaining & repairing all yellow iron (heavy equipment) – CAT, John Deere, etc.
- Will be working on all engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, hydraulics, etc.
- Will be using service manuals and schematics to set up and perform repairs
- Run diagnostics on equipment
- Follow direction of the Yard Manager with regards to daily production schedule and activities
- Operate a service truck to various locations to repair and maintain heavy equipment.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Must have CAT SIS Program & Diagnostic skills
- Must provide own set of tools
- Ability to lift heavy objects 50 lbs.
- Walking/Standing/Bending for long periods of time
- Perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor elements
- Required to have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Required to pass pre-employment drug test/physical/background check
