Overview
We are seeking an experienced Counter Surveillance Specialist to protect high-value assets, sensitive information, and personnel from covert monitoring or espionage threats. This individual will design, implement, and execute countermeasures to identify and neutralize electronic, visual, and physical surveillance activities. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in surveillance detection, advanced technical skills, and a proactive mindset toward emerging threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Threat Assessments & Planning
Perform risk analysis to determine potential surveillance vulnerabilities in facilities, vehicles, and communication systems.
Develop and implement customized counter surveillance strategies based on client or organizational requirements.Surveillance Detection & NeutralizationConduct electronic sweeps (TSCM-Technical Surveillance Countermeasures) to detect hidden devices such as bugs, trackers, or unauthorized transmitters.
Identify patterns of suspicious activity, employing both technical tools and behavioral analysis to locate and mitigate threats.Physical & Digital Security CoordinationCollaborate with security teams, IT specialists, and law enforcement to ensure a cohesive approach to surveillance detection.
Integrate counter surveillance strategies with broader risk management protocols, including cybersecurity measures and access controls.Reporting & DocumentationGenerate detailed reports on findings, countermeasures employed, and potential vulnerabilities for management review.
Maintain meticulous documentation of inspections, anomalies, and relevant actions taken for legal and compliance purposes.Training & Continuous ImprovementProvide guidance to security and executive teams on surveillance awareness, best practices, and operational security (OPSEC).
Stay updated on industry advances, emerging technologies, and evolving surveillance methods to refine and improve counter surveillance capabilities.Requirements
Qualifications
Education & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Relevant certifications (e.g., TSCM training, Certified Counterintelligence Threat Analyst) are highly desirable.ExperienceMinimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in counter surveillance, electronic sweep operations, or related fields (e.g., law enforcement, military intelligence, private security).
Proven track record of detecting, preventing, or neutralizing surveillance threats in high-risk or sensitive environments.Technical SkillsProficiency with TSCM equipment and techniques (e.g., spectrum analyzers, nonlinear junction detectors, thermal imaging).
Knowledge of signal intelligence (SIGINT) principles, GPS tracking solutions, wireless communication protocols, and encryption.Familiarity with surveillance / counter-surveillance software tools and data analysis methods.Soft SkillsStrong analytical abilities and attention to detail, with keen situational awareness.
Excellent communication skills for conveying technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work well under pressure, handling sensitive or high-stakes environments calmly and professionally.Desired Attributes
