Role Summary
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on a radiograph by applying knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic technique. This role is responsible for operating limited medical X-ray equipment and performing basic diagnostic radiographs. Additionally, the successful candidate will perform basic CT procedures, including contrast studies, and provide administrative assistance for procedures pertinent to the radiology service.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate medical imaging equipment, applying knowledge of clinical applications of radiologic techniques.
• Perform basic diagnostic radiographs and CT procedures, including contrast studies.
• Provide administrative assistance for procedures related to the radiology service.
• Transport patients to and from assigned areas and provide radiation protection to self and public.
Requirements
• Certificate of Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with adaptability to changing work schedules and patient needs. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Working Conditions
• May be exposed to the risk of communicable diseases and radiation.
• May require handling of unclean or infectious materials.
• Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area, with the ability to work under stress and conditions that normally exist in a hospital setting.
