The EHS Specialist will need understanding and knowledge to support EHS focus areas at the site as it relates to key areas such as confined space, process safety, machinery safety, electrical and utilities safety, injury and illness prevention, incident investigation (RCA), risk assessments, regulatory compliance, Haleon EHS Standards, internal auditing, EHS training, behavioral safety, general environmental and industrial hygiene program elements.

- Helps to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees on site providing guidance and support to management, project teams, and employees.
- Support site team with reportable and pSIF incident investigations to identify root cause and implement improved corrective and preventative practices. Be able to work in collaboration with teams, objectively analyzing information and circumstances relevantly, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
- Actively support the consideration of human factors and human reliability in proactive risk assessments and system design.
- Collaborates with other EHS professionals to develop engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) strategies to manage exposure risks.
- Review and track investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, non-injury accidents and near-misses to ensure that they are effective, and that they identify and resolve root causes.
- Carry out regular workplace inspections and audits to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and company and site policies, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate the completion of job safety analyses and risk assessments.
- Support SMEs in the areas of process, machinery, electrical, utilities, contractor safety as required.
- Support as needed, industrial hygiene related activities including ergonomics, air, noise, and other personal or area monitoring as directed by the industrial hygienist.
- Monitor site EHS policies, objectives, key performance indicators and targets that reflect local needs and alignment with Haleon’s short and long term EHS strategy. Ensure local EHS SOPs effectively comply with Haleon’s overall EHS management system. Perform Standard Gap Analysis as required.
- Conduct EH&S training on a variety of topics as required.
- Assess the site’s different EHS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall EHS management system. Review change proposals (including capital projects and new product introductions) to identify potential EHS issues and participate in their resolution.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues at other Haleon sites in North America and around the world to ensure that EHS best practices and lessons from adverse events are shared effectively.
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor‘s degree in related discipline (e.g. environmental or safety management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or science) or Associate degree with 7 years relevant work experience in environmental and safety program management.
- Minimum 5 years experience in an EHS field including experience relative to the job specifications.
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience in EHS in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.
- Membership of a relevant and internationally recognized professional organization (e.g. AIHA, ACGIH, IOSH, IChemE, ASSP).
- Working toward achieving Certified/Registered Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other relative professional designation with an internationally recognized professional organization.
- This position requires knowledge of Safety and Environmental requirements and regulations. Hence any formal education around these requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge in the use of any/all of the following databases: EHS One, 3E, (Humantech), ENHESA.
- Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, management, EHS and Regional leads.
