We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Project Environmental Engineer or Project Geologist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time, hybrid position located in our Oakland, CA office.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
- Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions, assess site access for subsurface explorations, and identify important site features.
- Monitor subsurface exploration activities (e.g., test borings, geoprobes, and test pits) to collect soil, bedrock, groundwater, and other pertinent information for project design.
- Conduct soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with applicable ASTM standards, company standard procedures, and other industry standard guidelines.
- Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for their discipline.
- Compile, reduce, analyze, manage, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and/or environmental data using spreadsheets and other tools.
- Conduct on-site monitoring/ engineering observation of contractor environmental related construction activities.
- Use various environmental and geotechnical instrumentation and equipment during field work.
- Perform historical site review and review applicable regulations, as appropriate.
- Prepare written reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs.
- Adhere to Site Specific Health and Safety Plans prepared for each project site. As applicable, participate in site safety briefings and audits by both contractors and Haley & Aldrich.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or geology. (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 4 years professional services consulting experience that includes environmental field investigation, construction monitoring in the field, execution of Phase I/Phase II environmental assessments, evaluation of environmental data, and presentation of technical solutions in a variety of written and oral formats.
- Ability to obtain EIT/PE license or GIT/PG within 2 years of hire date preferred (f applicable).
- Proficient in technical writing, verbal communication skills, and organization/analytical skills.
- Computer skills with Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and MS Project.
- AutoCAD, GIS, and groundwater modeling and data visualization preferred.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and other H&S training desirable.
- Ability to work on a team and independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.

The salary range for this position in Oakland, CA is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
