We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Project Environmental Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Costa Mesa, CA office.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:
- Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
- Lead portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff.
- Apply academic and industry knowledge as well as learnings from prior work experience to execute project work.
- Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline.
- Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with client, agencies, and internal teams within your discipline.
- Conduct or oversee bench-scale testing, field pilot study demonstrations, remedial construction, and remedial system O&M and quality control.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Lead project environmental data reduction, technical evaluation, and summarization tasks.
- Prepare project feasibility studies, remedial designs, cost estimates, and permit applications.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum
Skills and Requirements:
- PhD in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on PFAS.
- 1-4 years of related PFAS research experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements.
- Able to work independently on individual tasks supporting technical work and exhibit the ability to manage tasks and perform work on multiple projects or multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
- Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
Preferred Skills
- Professional certification or planning to obtain professional certification, as applicable to the discipline.
- Experience in environmental analytical testing and data reduction techniques for soil, water, and air.
- Strong chemistry, geochemistry, and biology background and understanding.
- Experience with soil, groundwater, and air treatment technologies.
- Design, construction, and O&M experience with environmental remediation projects.
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training.
The salary range for this position in Costa Mesa, CA is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
