We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Professional 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Rochester, NY office.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

• Lead the execution of environmental and safety compliance project work through individual contribution, collaboration with senior EH&S professionals, and delegation to lower-level staff.
• Lead environmental and safety compliance projects, with emphasis on multi-media environmental permitting and strategy, hazardous waste management, wastewater and water discharge compliance, EH&S compliance auditing, and EH&S program and procedure development on behalf of clients.
• Demonstrate and apply knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned project work.
• Understand Federal and state environmental and safety regulations and to evaluate and interpret requirements as they apply to our clients
• Understand and develop technical scopes of work and proposals in your specialty area in a supporting function for business development. Have an ability to recognize conditions that require modifications to accommodate client- or regulatory-specific requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and support staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, technical reports, and deliverables.
• Use developing skills to be visible in your specialty area by giving internal and external technical presentations.
• Support the management of compliance with internal H&S programs; apply H&S concepts, procedures, and approaches during planning and implementation of projects; detect potentially unsafe work practices and recommend countermeasures. Support the internal H&S team develop, improve, and implement H&S-related programs and training.
• Model the company’s foundational safety behaviors. Promote safe behaviors, provides direction on best practices and operating procedures to staff members on internal and external H&S matters.
• Understand and apply techniques to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
• Plan and perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
• Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, EH&S or related field.
• 5-7 years of related experience.
• Professional environmental or safety registration or certification, as applicable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information.
• Desire to master skills in your discipline to become visible in the industry.
• Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks pertinent to the work.
• Understanding of common industrial activities and the relationship with various environmental media/regulations (e.g., air, wastewater, regulated waste, EPCRA, tanks).
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other standard software; GIS or CAD experience a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, EH&S or related field.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
• Experience in a safety, compliance, or management experience in corporate or manufacturing environment.
• Task Management experience.

The salary range for this position in Rochester, NY is $65,000 - $100,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary bonus program. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.
