We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Environmental/Stormwater Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. The salary range for this position in Maui, HI is $95,000 - $115,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary bonus program. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.

Duties/Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Split time between completing technical tasks such as field assignments, reporting, and analysis with task management and project management support activities.
- Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to address client goals and objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, budget, schedule, and safety requirements are met.
- Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
- Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
- Engage in internal and external communications with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
- Provide support for environmental compliance related to construction and post‑construction BMPs, MS4 permits, and Hawaii stormwater regulations.
- Perform occasional fieldwork, including some travel and, when necessary, weekend work.
- Assist in task management for large environmental compliance programs, eventually serving as a project manager for small to medium size projects.
- Assist with the development of technical scopes of work, subcontractor scopes and estimating costs for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized project opportunities.
- Conduct research and compile information in a clear and concise manner appropriate for transmitting complex issues to regulators and project stakeholders.
- Write professional-quality documents.
- Attend project meetings with clients, regulators, and contractors.
- Plan all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Demonstrate our foundational safety behaviors.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources engineering.
- 6 years of related consulting experience, with an emphasis that includes municipal and/or industrial stormwater system regulatory compliance and/or design.
- Professional engineering registration or certification, as applicable.
- Construction stormwater certification (e.g., CISEC, CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI, etc.) or ability to quickly obtain.
- Strong task management skills, organizational skills, and attention to details.
- Proficient computer literacy skills including use of the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to stormwater and spill control.
- Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
- Some project management experience a plus.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
- Experience with Municipal NPDES permit regulations (construction, MS4, industrial, etc.).
- Interest or experience with community outreach for environmental programs.
