Pay: Base pay will vary within the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to Haleyville and may not be applicable to other locations.

Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading and driving the maintenance activities in the plant with an emphasis on creating and maintaining a safe working environment and maintaining and exceeding customer quality requirements. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for problem solving equipment and facility issues and should be knowledgeable in electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
What you will do:
- Participate in all maintenance activities
- Communicate with operations for equipment downtime needs
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines, ancillary equipment, and the facility to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, buildings systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate & adhere to all current and future PM programs
- Troubleshoot and repair machines and systems, aid with equipment installations, and identify and implement improvements in a timely manner.
- Purchase machine components and set-up supplies for departments
- Lead others by example and ensure that all co-workers follow safety procedures
- Log all maintenance activities and repairs
- Follow all safety requirements and programs
- Required to stay over or come in early when requested by Management
- Required to attend meeting/training set by Management
- Identify all parts required
- Obtain estimates for supplies
- Work closely with EHS to ensure all inspections/repairs completed timely
- Work closely with purchasing - parts ordered, glue levels, replenishment schedule, etc.
- Plan and execute all CER projects and Kaizen projects
- Respond to maintenance calls timely
- Maintain spare parts inventory and required documentation
- Monitor and control all spending with flexing budget (volume dependent)
- Exercise supervision over vendors
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Repair or replace defective equipment or parts & clean/lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Operation Monitoring – watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machines are working properly
- Meet with the Production Manager on daily events
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Conduct tests and inspections of machines and processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Perform grounds keeping services, such as landscaping
- Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties
- Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures
- Very high level of responsibility - 100% safety conformance, ensure upkeep of all equipment, timely completion of all projects within budget, timely repair of all equipment, to minimize downtime.
What you will need:
- Welding certificate preferred
- Preferably one year or more experience in manufacturing setting
- HS Diploma or GED, required
- Associate’s Degree or higher in a technical program, preferred
- Good communication skills – must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English and communicate effectively with others
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Physical dexterity - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. At times required to work at high heights up to 50 ft and on building roof
- Ability to dismantle devices to access & remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools
- Ability to plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
