Halff has an opening for a Roadway Engineer, with a Texas PE License, to be a Project Manager to join our growing Roadway / Transportation team based out of our Corpus Christi, TX office. The ideal candidate would have at least 8 years of experience in roadway / transportation project development with emphasis in delivery of TxDOT Transportation PS&E and/or Schematic Design projects. Halff’s Transportation services safely move people, vehicles and freight using multimodal applications ranging from roadways (local roads to interstate highways), transit and active transportation projects from initial planning through final design. The complete project development process includes responsive planning and design such as geometrics and storm drainage. It incorporates technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to relay roadway information and communication. Finally, it brings transit planning and design to the forefront.

Roadway Engineer (PE) Project Manager - Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Responsibilities:

  • Works under a Transportation Team Leader in the development of roadway design projects both for Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) and Schematic Design
  • Works closely with the other design staff, consultants, and clients to deliver projects that contribute to the growth and safety of Texas roadways
  • Manages transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
  • Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT’s, and technical staff
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
  • Reports on project progress
  • Collaborates with clients and other consultants
  • Works with the Transportation Team Leader and Operations Manager in business development activities

Roadway Engineer (PE) Project Manager - Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas or are able and willing to obtain license within six months of starting date
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in TxDOT Roadway / Transportation PS&E and/or Schematic Design project delivery
  • Experience performing complex transportation engineering tasks and coordinating with clients or stakeholders
  • MicroStation CADD and Geopak experience, OpenRoads experience desirable
  • Ability to lead a project and supervise technical staff
  • Experience managing roadway design projects and plan production
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to quality
  • Positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player and a person of high character with a focus on quality, integrity and success
  • TxDOT experience (as a TxDOT employee or consultant) is desirable
