Position Summary
The Barback is an essential support role in the bar, responsible for ensuring that the bar operates efficiently and smoothly. The Barback assists bartenders by stocking and replenishing bar supplies, maintaining cleanliness and organization behind the bar, and providing excellent service to ensure a positive guest experience. This role requires strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Stocking and Replenishing
- Ensure the bar is fully stocked with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, glassware, ice, garnishes, and other supplies. Restock items as needed throughout the shift to keep the bar running smoothly.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Keep the bar area clean and organized by washing and sanitizing glassware, wiping down surfaces, taking out trash, and ensuring that equipment and tools are properly maintained.
Support Bartenders
- Assist bartenders with drink preparation and service during busy periods. Quickly and efficiently fulfill bartender requests, such as fetching ingredients or supplies.
Customer Interaction
- Provide friendly and attentive service to guests when necessary, including clearing empty glasses and plates, offering assistance, or delivering drink orders.
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including proper handling of food and beverages. Follow all company policies and procedures.
Opening and Closing Duties
- Assist with setting up the bar before service and closing it down at the end of the shift. This includes preparing garnishes, stocking supplies, and performing a thorough cleaning.
Qualifications
Experience
- Previous experience in a bar or restaurant environment is required. Willingness to learn and adapt quickly is essential.
Skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Basic knowledge of bar supplies and equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
