Description
The Director of Admissions role is to provide leadership and supervision to the Admissions staff. The Director is also responsible for directing admissions strategies, and promoting the college by working with the Marketing team to produce marketing materials for recruitment.

- The Director works to ensure that enrollment goals and objectives are met through the process of inquiries, applications, and registered students.
- The Director of Admissions is responsible for the strategic and operational management of admissions, recruitment, and placement.
- The Director demonstrates strong student-centered and customer service philosophy.
- Attends and staffs outreach efforts at events where potential students would be recruited.
- Attends, represents, and coordinates admissions/recruiting events, such as festivals, high school visits, career days and college fairs.
- Collects, prepares, and maintains statistical data and applies data to project enrollment trends.
- Presents to large groups of prospective students and their families.
- Remains informed of state and federal legislative actions that have implications for admissions and enrollment trends.
- Supervise admission staff.
- Conducts research to assess short and long range institutional needs, collecting, analyzing, and coordinating research data for institutional planning.
- Provides direct support for campus admissions, institutional planning, program review process, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinates reports and follow-up actions of the reaffirmation process of the College and programs. Assists the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Student Affairs with enrollment initiatives.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute an enrollment, communications and recruitment plan for the College. Some evening and weekend work required.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Attends off campus recruitment events and performs visitations for the purpose of disseminating information, collecting inquiries and applications, and promoting enrollment.
- Develops and cultivates relationships with high schools, colleges, small and large businesses, civic organizations, community leaders and other entities that would potentially support enrollment efforts.
- Ensures documentation for acceptance and enrollment are collected, accurately recorded in the student file, and reconciled with the student database (Colleague).
- Provides campus tours to prospective students and significant others.
- Ensures that all Recruitment and Admissions Strategies are followed.
- Performs follow-up activities (mailings, phone calls, e-mails) on prospective student inquiries, contacts and interviews.
- Actively adhere to and communicate institutional mission.
- Assist students in completing admission application, in securing transcripts, health records, and assisting students in completing their financial aid and scholarship applications.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the job.
- Must maintain current knowledge of trends and new developments in admissions and recruitment.
- Must receive required hours of professional development as indicated in HCC Personnel Manual.
- Serve on various College committees as assigned.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
Required:
Master's degree required in Student Services, Education or other related field. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have an understanding of recruitment and admission practices as they relate to community college, adult/nontraditional and online education. Experience in working with a student information systems and student files. Supervisory-level experience. Proven ability to communicate effectively, and work well with a wide variety of constituencies. Student oriented with demonstrated experience working successfully with diverse populations. Possess a high level of work skills and behaviors including: organization and coordination or multiple efforts, team building, initiative, customer service and follow-up. Commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Preferred:
Experience working in Higher Education preferred.
