Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Associate to join our team at Halifax Community College. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional custodial services to our campus community.
Responsibilities:
- Perform janitorial services in assigned areas around the college campus.
- Respond to needs such as work orders, vehicle check out forms, purchase requests, inspection reports.
- Follow campus rules and regulations, along with supervisor guidance regarding regulatory code books, equipment manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, publications, and reference texts.
- Operate various equipment and machinery, including telephones, vehicles, trailers, sprayers, wet/dry vacuums, scrubbers, buffers.
- Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals, including Custodial Supervisor, co-workers, staff and faculty, contractors, regulatory agencies, businesses, and the general public.
- Perform general administrative work, including attending meetings, providing data for reports.
Requirements:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in janitorial, customer services, or related industry is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
