About The Role
HPS is seeking to hire a full-time General Liability Paralegal in its Las Vegas office who has at least five (5) years’ experience as a litigation paralegal (knowledge of general liability is a plus). The paralegal will work collaboratively alongside a team of attorneys and other staff during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period, through trial. The right candidate will be skilled and hard-working as well as pleasant and personable.
Billable Responsibilities (Billable hours goal of 1400 hours per year)
The Billable Hours requirement is pro-rated for individuals hired for a partial year or for those that make use of a qualified leave of absence under the FMLA or take other legally protected leave during the review year.

About The Role
HPS is seeking to hire a full-time General Liability Paralegal in its Las Vegas office who has at least five (5) years’ experience as a litigation paralegal (knowledge of general liability is a plus). The paralegal will work collaboratively alongside a team of attorneys and other staff during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period, through trial. The right candidate will be skilled and hard-working as well as pleasant and personable.
Billable Responsibilities (Billable hours goal of 1400 hours per year)
- Organize documents and coordinate document productions. This may include Bates-stamping, redaction, duplication, indexing of documents, etc. Set up and maintain files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts
- Conduct various document searches and factual research. Cull relevant information from a variety of sources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations.
- Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation. Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Assist in preparation for depositions. Under attorney supervision, gather and prepare documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, take notes, and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding.
- Assist in Motion practice. Pull relevant documents, proofread papers, organize exhibits, and create document indices in the preparation of motion filing.
- Court filings. Work with attorneys in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Create, bind, and distribute both file and courtesy copies. Organize the briefs, exhibits and appendices.
- Act as liaison among various internal departments as well as with outside agencies. Oversee the progress of documents through litigation support departments, order transcripts from reporting services and fulfill requests from outside counsel and others.
- Prepare for and attend trials. Organize exhibits, files and all other supporting documents, coordinate and perform trial set-up and logistics (function as a TrialMax expert), assist attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes, handling exhibits, and marking documents referred to by counsel, assist in the preparation of witness testimony and serve as liaison between trial attorneys and in-house staff.

What You Will Need To Succeed
- 5 years as a Paralegal within a law firm supporting attorneys practicing defense litigation.
- Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures of the law.
- Knowledge of functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related agencies.
- Highly proficient using MS Office Suites: Word, Excel, Outlook, Billing Software, and On-Line Document Management Software, such as KOFAX.
- Expertise in using Outlook Calendars, ZOOM and TEAMS for scheduling and maintaining attorneys' busy schedules.
- Experience in creating and maintaining documents, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, and copying; coordinating case preparation.
- Experience in billing your own hours through billing software.
- Must be highly organized, able to multitask and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
