What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at Hall's Culligan Water?
The Network Engineer will help plan, build, manage and maintain a reliable, efficient and secure enterprise-level data and communications network. The ideal candidate will have appropriate qualifications to work with networking hardware and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design MPLS and VPN networks with multiple circuit technologies
- Configure Cisco and HP routers, switches and firewalls.
- Configure, deploy and maintain multiple wireless technologies from Meraki, HP, and Cisco
- Implement and configure multiple firewall revisions from Cisco, Meraki, and others
- Evaluate and resolved network performance issues including availability, throughput, latency and QoS
- Fine tune overall network equipment performance by monitoring and analyzing systems and troubleshooting problems as discovered.
- Secure enterprise networks by maintaining and implementing proper access rules on routers, switches, and firewall equipment
- Upgrade network device operating systems, as needed based on vendor recommendations and testing.
- Regularly work with on-site technicians to connect or install new and upgraded network equipment and connectivity solutions
- Engage in regular network troubleshooting activities, resolve connectivity issues, and mitigate operational risks.
- Provide on-call and weekend support when needed.
Qualifications
- A minimum of four years in business networking design and network management.
- Experience troubleshooting and implementing multiple routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and RIP
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting and client initiated and persistent tunneling VPN solutions including IPSEC and SSL VPN tunnels
- Deep understanding of access lists, routing, policy-based routing, QoS, VLANS, SNMP, and NetFlow
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management with an emphasis on IT is highly desired.
- Certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are not required but highly considered
- A willingness to learn, recommend, and work with new technologies as they become available.
- The proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
- The ability to work within a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change.
- The capability to interface with multiple levels of the organization and to serve as an influence leader and a team player.
- Strong presentation, facilitation and written/verbal communication skills.
- Occasional travel will be required. The Network Engineer may occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours.
