What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Hall, Schieffelin & Smith, P.A.?
Hall, Schieffelin & Smith, P.A. is an AV rated Winter Park medical malpractice defense law firm with an immediate opening for a full-time legal secretary. The position requires a minimum of five years of Florida medical malpractice experience handling cases from pre-suit through trial.

Essential Duties :
- Draft correspondence, emails, deposition summaries, discovery plans, initial reports, and status reports
- Setting up matters in Client Profiles and maintaining complete and accurate information in Client Profiles from inception to conclusion of each case
- Making travel arrangements, as necessary
- Setting up depositions and engaging court reporters, as necessary
- Answering incoming calls and taking messages
- Participating in the firm’s docketing system, including scheduling, logging and reminding attorneys of deadlines and appearances
- Preparing travel reports and vouchers as necessary
- Assist paralegal in preparing discovery documents and electronically file pleadings via Florida court’s E-Filing Portal
- Maintain calendar with scheduling of conference calls, depositions, hearings and mediations; select documents / records to prepare attorney for same
- Coordinate conferences, unsworn statements and depositions of Plaintiff, Defendant, Co-defendant, treaters, experts, fact witnesses and hospital employees
