Recruitment Specialist –
The Recruitment Specialist provides a variety of functions including phone screening, interviewing, preparation of offer letters and pre-employment paperwork/forms, ordering and monitoring of pre-employment background screening, new hire correspondence and inquiry resolution within a shared service environment to achieve timely onboarding of North American hires for our Rail line of business.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review a high volume of applications on a daily basis to determine validity
- Conduct a high volume of initial phone interviews using various reliable personnel selection tools and methods to filter candidates; assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
- Resolve questions for incoming calls, driver recruitment line, incomplete applications, and referrals from field offices; provide support to Field Management by answering questions and providing follow up information
- Process candidate background checks, drug screen, MVR, DOT physical, E-Verify, and other qualification checks as required
- Initiate conditional offer letter for new hires; assist in preparing offer packages and new employee orientation packages
- Coordinate with field managers for face-to-face interview with prospective applicants
- Communicate status of recruiting efforts to appropriate field / department manager
- Ensure maintenance of accurate and concise records and reports concerning all phases of the recruitment process and update applicant tracking system (HMC)
- Maintain necessary recruiting related files and paperwork while upholding and protecting confidential candidate and employee information
- Participate in retention activities, including managing turnover data, exit interviews, stay interviews, and providing ideas and feedback on retention strategies
- Maintain a useful working knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Perform other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Strong PC skills including but not limited to Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service approach to problem solving
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with personal information, compensation and benefit information
- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
- Ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships
- Experience with full life cycle recruitment, volume hiring in fast paced environment (preferred, not mandatory)
- Experience working with an applicant tracking system (preferred, not mandatory)
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred in Human Resources or related field.
- 6 months recruiting experience required; and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
