Commercial Underwriting Intern

Job Description : Job Overview :

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriting Intern to join our Commercial Renewal Underwriting team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by supporting the underwriting team in evaluating risks, analyzing data, and contributing to decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen interest in the insurance and risk management field.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist underwriters in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating insurance applications and risk profiles for P&C insurance policies.
• Conduct research on industries, markets, and trends to assess risk exposure and profitability potential.
• Prepare and analyze reports related to underwriting performance, including loss ratios, premium trends, and other key metrics.
• Support the underwriting team in ensuring compliance with company guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards.
• Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as brokers and agents, to gather additional information or clarify underwriting requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and projects aimed at improving underwriting processes and efficiencies.
• Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in underwriting systems and databases.
• Shadow experienced underwriters to gain insight into risk assessment, policy issuance, and relationship management.
