2025 Creative Summer Internship - Graphic Designer, Visual Merchandising

POSITION OVERVIEW
Hallmark’s Global Visual Merchandising Studio is a strategic and dedicated studio made up of graphic and production designers, visual merchandisers, fixture and environmental designers, and writers. We create environmental signage, wayfinding, and fixture solutions for retailers including Hallmark Gold Crown, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and grocery, around the globe. We deliver a shopper experience that is easy to shop, showcases innovation and is unmistakably, recognizably Hallmark.

As a Graphic Design Intern in Hallmark’s Global Visual Merchandising Studio, you’ll have the opportunity to develop Hallmark-branded merchandising solutions including signage, wayfinding and other in-store graphics based on product, retailer, and consumer needs. During your internship, you’ll work on Visual Merchandise signing systems as well as packaging systems. We are seeking a creative thinker and problem solver who thinks holistically about design problems including marketing campaign design, package design, and environmental design.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The following is required to be considered for this role: 

• Currently pursuing a degree in a visual creative field with a graduation date of December 2025 or May/June 2026. You must state your targeted graduation date (month and year) on your resume, or you will not be considered. 
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Your resume and portfolio will stand out if you have:

• A portfolio that demonstrates strong design skill set, trend focused, excellent aesthetic judgement and strong typography skills.
• A portfolio that shows your ability to design holistic campaign solutions across wayfinding, print and packaging.
• Ability to understand constraints and develop concepts that take those constraints into consideration from concept through execution.
• Proven ability to translate a creative concept and assets across a variety of marketing applications.
• Desire to think creatively and systematically and a love of collaboration and team-oriented work.
• Ability to verbally communicate your creative process and design choices to stakeholders.
• An understanding of the retail marketplace and consumer trends that influence merchandising solutions and decisions.
• Experience, exposure or passion around the retail landscape and trends.

 ADDITIONAL DETAILS

• This summer internship is a hybrid position, with the flexibility to work from both our recently renovated headquarters building in Kansas City, MO, and from your summer residence within the KC metro area.
• Some relocation and housing assistance is provided for interns whose permanent address is outside of the KC metro area.
• Our internship program is 12-weeks long, starting in late May and ending in early August.
