Who we are
The Crown Room is a corporate foodservices operation that provides breakfast, lunch, catering, and Café dining for all Hallmarkers at the Kansas City headquarters, as well as, packaged food production for our production and distribution centers.
What this role entails and how you’ll contribute
The Culinary Assistant will perform a variety of functions, including, but not limited to the following:
- Prepares employee food following high quality standards and budgetary guidelines for all areas of service.
- Plans menus and assists with forecasting for weekly menu cycles.
- Coordinates and oversees grab and go meal preparation for several satellite locations.
- Prepares special menus for catering that are creative, provide good variety and offer several healthy choices.
- Coordinates ordering with Purchasing Agent monitoring the inventory of high cost items.
- Coordinates leftover product utilization with other culinary staff and managers in order to control food costs.
- Regularly monitors trends and implements new ideas and concepts focused on variety and healthy choices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The following is required to be considered for this role:
- Culinary Degree from an accredited college OR 4 years of volume food service and catering experience
- 2 years of culinary leadership experience
- 2 years of high-volume food production experience
- 2 years of experience managing food cost in a volume food service environment
- Able to lift 60 pounds, stand for 8 hours with lunch and breaks, walk 1 mile, push and pull 50 pound carts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Your resume/application will stand out if you have:
- Current Food Manager card with KCMO Health Department or previous food safe certification
- Able to cover all kitchen prep stations as needed.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Knowledgeable of highest quality standards in food preparation.
- Able to maintain timeliness of food production at optimal levels at all times.
- Can handle exposure to hot foods, steam, and hot appliances on a daily basis.
- Strong interpersonal skill to interact with customers and employees.
- High degree of motivation, conscientiousness, organization, and detail orientation.
- Must be highly productive, flexible and able to multi-task.
- Has a passion and skill for creativity particularly in catering food and décor preparation.
