The Material Movement Specialist position in Leavenworth is on 2nd Shift (3:30pm - 12:00am).

The Materials Movement Specialist reports through the Warehouse Department in the Leavenworth Production facility. Individuals in this department transport stock and recycled material to and from the warehouse to the production areas.   

 

The Materials Movement Specialist in Leavenworth is responsible for operating various types of material movement equipment and attachments to all support production areas. Examples include Sit Down/Standup Propane and electric powered equipment including the following attachments Fork Lift, Roll Clamp, Box Clamp, Push/Pull Slipsheeter and Hi-bay reach trucks. Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing trailers.  This role will also locate stock in the warehouse and fill orders for manufacturing using a variety of powered equipment.  Additional responsibilities include loading and unloading pallets on and off of conveyor and using freight elevators as necessary, operate corrugate and paper balers to compress recyclable materials into bales, and transport hazardous waste material in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. The Material Movement Specialist is responsible for all documentation related to stock movement, and positively participates in performance dialogues and other team problem-solving activities.  Identifies potential problems, and shows willingness to proactively work on problem resolution and alternative solutions to traditional methods of operation.  Flexibility is key as the incumbent will be expected to move to different work assignments as needed.  Incumbent will be expected to learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification.

 

The Materials Movement Specialist position may be in several departments, and incumbent will be expected to learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification.   

 

In this position you will:

  • Be certified to operate fork lifts and other power equipment as required. 
  • Transport stock between production departments and warehouse or between shipping and receiving docks and load onto trucks.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for shipment using banding equipment, power saws, power drills, film wrapper and string tie as required.  Responsible for all documentation related to stock movement.
  • Coordinate with paper recycling contractor, metal, or other contractors regarding the pick-up and delivery of storage containers and trailers to support manufacturing workloads.  Performs preventive and scheduled maintenance services on balers and power equipment. 
  • Demonstrate the flexibility and teamwork to positively influence how goals are accomplished with shorter periods of time. 
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors and other departments.
  • Utilize good safety practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to frequently move materials weighing 35 pounds and occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds from the floor
  • Ability to stand and walk approximately 95% of the time
  • Ability to frequently push, pull, twist, bend and reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current forklift certification or held a certified within the past 12 months.
  • Good math, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to understand the computer and ordering systems and successfully operate both systems
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to work under pressure to meet deadlines and changing needs.
  • Ability to reorganize and change directions when necessary
  • Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures for wearing PPE, and handling hazardous chemicals
  • Good planning and organizational skills to set up work area and manage work flow
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge
  • Understanding and practice of good customer service

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Work overtime as required during peak seasons
  • Must pass certification to operate lift trucks and power lift equipment
  • The warehouse and docks do not maintain direct climate control.
  • This is a warehouse environment that requires wearing appropriate PPE and following operating procedures when working with hazards from equipment, tools, and chemicals.
  • Required to operate hand powered tools, such as power saws, power drills, etc.
  • There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark.
