SUMMARY OF THE JOB :
Develops policies and directs / coordinates human resources activities; such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services for Hallmark University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Recruits, interviews, and assists with the selection of employees for vacant positions.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward institutional goals.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
- Processes semi-monthly payroll, including reconciliation of reported time and timecard approvals.
- Advises department managers and employees of University policies regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs and advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Prepares presentations for managers and employees regarding human resources policies and practices.
- Keeps records of benefits plan participation, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for internal and governmental reporting.
- Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Studies legislation and arbitration decisions to assess industry trends.
- Administers benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
- Represents the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
