Job Summary:
The Non-Denominational Chaplain will serve as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team at our RTC, providing spiritual care and emotional support to residents of all faith backgrounds. The chaplain is responsible for facilitating spiritual and emotional well-being, offering pastoral care, conducting services, and helping residents navigate their personal spiritual journeys in a safe and accepting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual and emotional support to residents, families, and staff, addressing individual needs and concerns.
- Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions and facilitate group discussions to aid residents in their recovery process.
- Create and implement spiritual care programs, including worship services, meditation sessions, and ritual observances that cater to diverse beliefs.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate spiritual care into the overall treatment plan for residents.
- Facilitate memorials, life celebrations, and other significant events as needed, respecting individual beliefs and preferences.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of a comprehensive treatment approach.
- Provide grief counseling and support to residents and families dealing with loss or spiritual crises.
- Maintain accurate records of spiritual care activities and document resident care plans in accordance with organizational policies.
- Stay informed about resources and referrals for residents seeking additional support in their spiritual or emotional journeys.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and stay updated on best practices in spiritual care and counseling.
Qualifications:
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited theological seminary or divinity school.
- Previous experience in pastoral care, spiritual counseling, or chaplaincy, particularly in a residential treatment or healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, religious, and spiritual backgrounds with sensitivity and respect.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and support residents and staff.
- Knowledge of mental health and addiction recovery processes is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Certification in chaplaincy (e.g., APC, NACC, or equivalent) preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
