What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative position at Haltom City?
Performs a variety of customer service functions on behalf of the Haltom City Utility Billing Department; collects and processes customer payments; responds to customer inquiries and complaints; creates, updates, and maintains account records; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Example of Duties:
- Provides customer service and assistance to City utility customers at the front counter, drive-thru, and via telephone.
- Responds to public inquiries regarding utility services and individual customer accounts.
- Receives and assists in resolving customer complaints; processes billing adjustments.
- Collects and processes water and/or other types of payments due to the City; balances and maintains assigned cash drawer; prepares bank deposits.
- Creates and opens new customer accounts; determines service locations and deposits required; inputs new account data into the Utility Billing Program.
- Coordinates the transfer and disconnection of water services; arranges final billing to customers.
- Follows up on past due utility accounts; establishes payment arrangements with customers; coordinates service cut-off for non-payment as required; re-opens delinquent accounts.
- Prepares and submits work orders for new service connection, meter re-reads, leak checks, service disconnection, cut-off's, and repairs.
- Schedules and coordinates service appointments with customers; contacts customers regarding the emergency shut-off of water services.
- Researches, updates, and maintains customer account information and billing records.
- Processes, prepares, and files documentation for residential, commercial, fire hydrant, sprinkler, City, and/or builder utility accounts.
- Prepares and/or generates a variety of departmental reports including billing, edit, general ledger recap, and zip code reports.
- Participates in general office duties including answering incoming calls, preparing service notices, and maintaining departmental records and files.
- Performs other specialized duties relative to area of assignment as assigned or required.
Typical Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years customer service experience
