Funeral Director/Embalmer

Job Overview
We are seeking a part-time compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the funeral service industry and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills. This role involves guiding families through the funeral planning process, ensuring that all arrangements are handled with care and professionalism. The Funeral Director will be responsible for conducting services, managing logistics, and providing bereavement support to grieving families.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including preparation, transportation, and burial or cremation arrangements.
• Provide compassionate support to families during their time of grief, offering guidance on service options and memorialization.
• Sanitate and prepare deceased individuals for viewing and services, ensuring dignity and respect throughout the process.
• Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in the preparation of bodies for viewing.
• Apply cosmetology skills to enhance the appearance of the deceased as requested by families.
• Manage event planning for funerals, including scheduling services, coordinating with clergy or celebrants, and arranging transportation.
• Conduct sales of funeral products and services while maintaining a focus on customer care and support.
• Perform heavy lifting as necessary when handling caskets or transporting remains.
• Maintain accurate records of all arrangements made and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Experience

• Previous experience in funeral directing or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of bereavement support practices is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices in funeral service is essential.
• Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with grieving families and provide them with the support they need during difficult times.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Ability to work one week per month, additional pay for after hours removals and any weekend work.
• Be able to operate a crematory
