Position:
Hamadeh Educational Services is seeking a highly motivated School Guidance Counselor to join our team! The school guidance counselor will provide on-site counseling to students and result in helping students make appropriate decisions relative to the school program and provide informational services to students and parents
Academy Mission:
The Academies mission is to provide their students with a quality education that focuses on a core curriculum and international cultures including the study of language. The academies provide an education of the whole child by integrating different diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to their college-preparatory program serving families in the Greater Detroit area.
Responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group counseling regarding personal, peer or family problems to (K-12) students referred for help
- Assists students evaluate their abilities, interest, talents, and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic academic and career goals.
- Advises middle and high school students on college majors, admission requirements, entrance exams, and financial aid and on trade or technical schools and apprenticeship programs.
- Provides behavioral management consultation and planning, including classroom and recess observation, monitoring and follow-up.
- Consults with school social worker to provide activities designed to improve and support the emotional, behavioral and social skills development of students.
- Provides support and consultation to School staff as needed, participating as a member of the school Building Guidance Team & Students who have special needs and require additional and unique services.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
- Must have Master’s Degree in School Counseling
- Must have a Michigan Teaching Certification with a School Counselor endorsement
- Experience in individual, group and family counseling with adolescents.
- Counseling experience must be in an educational setting
- Must possess excellent organization, planning, professionalism, and time management skills
- Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
- Must possess excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working in culturally diverse setting.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Flexible open minded, self driven team member
- Must be authorized to work in the US
