What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Hamaspik of Rockland County - HCBS Department?
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with varying levels of neurodivergent and/or intellectual disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing mentoring assistance and support in daily living activities as well as ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and creating a positive and nurturing environment. DSPs assist individuals in becoming involved and connected within their community, providing tailored support based on their preferences.
This part-time role is located in Yorktown, NY.
Client is low-functioning and autistic and need supervision recreational activities.
Shift available:
- Saturdays and Sundays: noon-5pm
Skills:
- Mentor and assist clients in their daily living activities
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all clients and staff
- Build positive relationships with clients and staff
- Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for assisting those in need
- Possesses a friendly disposition with a positive "can do" attitude
- Ability to work independently and consistently exercise good judgment
Qualifications:
- Caregiving experience required
- Experience working with individuals with neurodivergent and/or intellectual disabilities preferred
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Availability to work flexible hours
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record preferred
Required: Successful background check and fingerprinting
