What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Hamaspik of Rockland County - HCBS Department?
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with varying levels of neurodivergent and/or intellectual disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing mentoring assistance and support in daily living activities as well as ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and creating a positive and nurturing environment. DSPs assist individuals in becoming involved and connected within their community, providing tailored support based on their preferences.
The role is located in Nyack, NY.
The client is a low functioning adult who is wheelchair-bound, nonverbal, and requires full care, but understands everything and has some language skills. The worker will assist with recreational activities, play therapy, sensory activities, reading, music, arts and crafts, board games, and puzzles, as well as bringing her out into the community for errands, shopping, and social outings.
Shifts available:
- Monday-Friday: 4pm - 7pm or 5pm - 8pm
- Saturday: flexible

- Ability to work independently and consistently exercise good judgment
Qualifications:
- Caregiving experience required
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges required
- Availability to work flexible hours
- Clean driver's licence
