What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Hamaspik of Rockland County - HCBS Department?
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Spanish and English speaking weekend Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with varying levels of neurodivergent and/or intellectual disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing mentoring assistance and support in daily living activities as well as ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and creating a positive and nurturing environment. DSPs assist individuals in becoming involved and connected within their community, providing tailored support based on their preferences.
The role is located in Nanuet, NY.
We need a caring DSP to support a high-functioning adult client with autism by engaging him in recreational activities like going to the movies or shopping. The role requires assisting with socialization as a life skill goal.
Shifts available:
- Friday: 3-6pm
- Saturday and Sunday: noon-4pm
Skills:
- Mentor and assist clients in their daily living activities
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all clients and staff
- Build positive relationships with clients and staff
- Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for assisting those in need
- Possesses a friendly disposition with a positive "can do" attitude
- Ability to work independently and consistently exercise good judgment
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Clean driver's license
- Caregiving experience required
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges required
- Availability to work flexible hours
