Job Summary

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and building relationships that support the growth and sustainability of the nonprofit organization. This position will focus on securing new funding sources, particularly through public funding opportunities and government contracts, building strategic partnerships, and expanding the organization's outreach to key stakeholders, donors, and clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in fundraising, grant writing, partnership development, and strategic planning within the nonprofit sector.

Essential Functions

Funding Identification and Grant Development :

Research and identify potential funding opportunities from government sources.
Prepare compelling grant proposals and funding reports.
Manage relationships with current and prospective government entities to ensure continued support.

Strategic Partnerships & Networking :

Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders.

Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and community meetings.

Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to increase collaboration opportunities.

Program Expansion & Development :

Work with program staff to understand the needs of the community and the organization's program offerings.

Collaborate on expanding or enhancing programs to meet the needs of target populations.

Identify new markets or demographics that could benefit from the organization's services.

Financial Planning & Reporting :

Monitor and report on the financial performance of business development activities, including grants and community outreach efforts.

Assist in budgeting and financial forecasting for the organization's development needs.

Team Collaboration :

Work closely with the executive leadership and development team to align business development goals with the organization's strategic objectives.

Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.

The Business Development Manager will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

Competency Requirements

Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Passionate about the nonprofit sector and the organization's mission.

Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and problem-solve.

Flexible, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a growing nonprofit.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit business development, fundraising, or a related field.

Proven track record of successfully securing grants, sponsorships, or donations.

Experience in program development, partnership building, and community outreach.

Tuberculosis clearance

Department of Justice / Fingerprint clearance

Satisfactory completion of health screening

Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States

Satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of a Business Development Manager, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and use their fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument. The employee is occasionally required to walk, drive, bend, or lift objects heavier than 10 pounds. The employee is rarely required to run.
