What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Hamden Health?
Hamden Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, a 153 bed skilled nursing facility, located in Hamden, CT, is looking for full-time and part-time Cooks to join our team.
Under the supervision of the Dietary Manager, provides a sanitary safe hygienic service that meets the daily nutritional needs of the adult and geriatric residents.
1. Takes responsibility for preparing and cooking food items, including meats, fish, vegetables, etc., according to standardized recipes and menus. This may involve preparation and cooking of breakfast, lunch and/or dinner depending on the shift assigned.
2. Responsible for overseeing proper food handling techniques for food service personnel on assigned shift.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have successfully completed ServSafe credentialing
- Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Has adequate experience as a cook in an institutional setting, preferably in the health care field.
- Has the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Has the ability to communicate and get along with adult and geriatric residents, co-workers and other in the conduct of duties.
- Is a certified food handler, as preferred.
- Works hours as needed by the requirements of the position/assignment.
