Hamel Contracting is seeking a Superintendent to join our team. This is a full-time position, we offer growth potential, competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
The Superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the construction process for assigned projects. You will ensure that all construction projects are completed within budget, on schedule, and to the satisfaction of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all construction activities to ensure that they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate with the project manager, architects, engineers, and other subcontractors to ensure that all work is performed to the highest quality standards.
- Manage subcontractors, interface with project managers, architects, engineers, owners and their representatives and local jurisdictional authorities.
- Prepare and update project schedules, coordinate material deliveries, and manage subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on schedule.
- Prepare daily construction reports and maintain accurate project records in Procore as applicable.
- Conduct site meetings with project stakeholders to provide progress updates and to address any concerns or issues that arise.
- Manage and enforce safety policies and procedures on the job site.
- Coordinate with local authorities and agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices and change orders.
- Review, revise, and follow plans.
- Monitor the quality of workmanship and ensure that all work complies with building codes and standards.
- Ensure that project closeout is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a superintendent.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction methods.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Experience managing and supervising subcontractors and construction crews.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Proficiency in project management and construction software, such as Microsoft Project, Procore, and Bluebeam.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid and clean driver's license
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Working Hours
Exempt employees’ hours may vary dependent on the needs of the job. Must be available to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite. The Superintendent may also be required to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate the needs of the project.
Work Location
HQ is located in Murrieta, CA, however job sites varies across southern California to include but not limited to San Diego County, Riverside County, San Bernardino, Orange County, Palm Desert, and Los Angeles County.
Working Conditions
This position operates on construction sites, which may involve exposure to hazards such as noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
Physical Requirements
The Superintendent job requires physical abilities such as standing, walking, and climbing stairs, as well as visual and auditory acuity. Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job satisfactorily and if requested reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job absent undue hardship.
