Assistant Professor (U.S., Native & Indigenous America History), position number 84483 , UH Hilo, College of Arts and Sciences, History Department, tenure-track, full-time, general funds, permanent, nine-month appointment to begin approximately August 2025, pending position clearance and availability of funding.
Duties and Responsibilities : Teach undergraduate courses within the major and GE, including the two-semester survey sequence in World History. Offer undergraduate courses in U.S. history (survey and area of specialization). Contribute to history program courses in historiography and research methods. Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research and publication. Participate in service work, fulfill other duties assigned by the department chair. Serve on appropriate department, college, and university committees, and contribute to department activities.
Minimum Qualifications : Ph.D. in History (or related discipline) by August 1, 2025, from an accredited college or university. Experience teaching U.S. history, and / or Native or Indigenous studies / history, and / or World history.
Desirable Qualifications : Ph.D. in History (from an accredited college or university). Graduate field in U.S. History.
Graduate field in Native or Indigenous-America studies / history. Experience teaching U.S. History. Experience teaching Native or Indigenous studies / history. Experience teaching World History. Experience teaching historical methods and research courses. Evidence of strong research capabilities.
Pay Range : Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
