Position Summary
The Physician - Pediatrics provides health assessment and direct care to pediatric patients as part of the provider team providing services to HCHN patients.
General responsibilities
- Understands and follows HCHN Mission Statement, Code of Ethics, organizational policies, and structure.
- Provides pediatric care using generally accepted standards and practice.
- The physician develops a plan of pediatric care for each patient, including complete history, physical examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and/or referral, using all available resources in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.
- Hospitalizes as needed for any patient requiring in-patient care.
- Perform general pediatric procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic, using both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques.
- Effectively and efficiently completes all paperwork requirements for encounters and medical records compliance.
- Ensures all patient charts are completed within 24 hours of the patient visit, and the charting is comprehensive and legible.
- Adheres to contract specifics related to the number of patients seen on a daily basis and actively assists with the clinic flow of patients.
- Responsible for adherence with CMS/CLIA requirements, following formulary limits and clinical practice standards/protocols.
- Maintains up-to-date licensures, certifications, credentialing and privileging documents, completing all paperwork and applications within the assigned time frames.
- Participates in the preparation of HCHN clinical/health care budget and the ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
- Participates in community and organizational activities designed to modify community health-seeking behavior, epidemiology, and community health care needs. This includes participating in the development of clinical care and health risk management protocols.
- Responsible for the development and coordination of all health care collaborations to ensure grant compliance.
- Interprets and presents pertinent clinical data to the CEO, management team, and Board of Directors within assigned time frames.
- Develops, implements, and monitors the HCHN CQI program related to clinic patient care.
- Active participant in all assigned meetings including provider meetings, staff meetings, and Peer Review meetings as scheduled.
- Performs and accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Licensed physician to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
- Completion of Accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
- Board Certified in Pediatrics and is qualified in basic life support.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of health care delivery, as well as the theory and practice of organizational management, preferably in health care and/or not-for-profit environment

- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, to effectively and tactfully deal with a diverse group of patients, staff, customers, and community groups.
- General computer proficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
