Full-time/70 hours bi-weekly
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Starting Salary:
$21.97 hourly, non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – 50 - 60 %
Review all new Divorce, Dissolution, Annulment, and Domestic Violence filings and motions submitted to make sure proper documents are prepared in order to authorize the filing. Process all new Divorce, Dissolution, and Domestic Violence filings and motions to make sure proper documents filed electronically or in person are prepared. Schedule and re-schedule hearings set before the Judges and Magistrates. Accurately update CMS with all required information upon receipt of new and existing case filings. Deliver clear, concise answers to various questions (either in-person or over the phone) that attorneys, the public, or court personnel may have regarding legal information, procedures, case settings, etc. Direct litigants to various resources to assist them in completing their paperwork or securing legal advice.

Re-schedule and transfer hearings set before the Judges and Magistrates. Timely process all incoming mail correspondence. Research the Support Enforcement Tracking System to determine if litigants have support accounts and to locate children born during the term of the marriage that have not been identified in the original CDR pleading. Provide docket information to the Court Index for publication purposes. Compose correspondence, handle documents of a sensitive and confidential nature, copy material accurately, and recognize grammatical or spelling errors. Maintain equipment and supplies in the self-help center. Provide aid to litigants utilizing the self-help center.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – 20 – 30 %
Update the computer system to reflect changes of counsel, court party, address, etc. Assign appraisers to cases. Close out the Judges’ and Magistrates’ dockets upon request and reschedule cases, if necessary. Perform duties of co-workers as workload dictates or as requested. Any other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS (may be developed after employment)
Knowledge of: Applicable procedures and practices of the Court of Domestic Relations; including familiarity with the Local Rules of Practice, the Court’s personnel policies, proper courtroom etiquette, and basic computer and office equipment skills.
Ability to: Communicate with attorneys, the general public, employees, and Court officials in an effective and courteous manner; establish and maintain productive working relationships with co-workers and others; collaborate with others and work effectively in a team environment; work under pressure and maintain composure in dealing with potentially irate and hostile litigants; accept constructive criticism and direction; must be professional at all times and work cooperatively with all other departments within the Court and persons from other courts, agencies and providers; maintain regular attendance, proper dress, and a positive attitude; treat litigants and counsel with respect and dignity.
Skill in: Communicating with staff and others, both orally and in written form, operating basic office machines, operations of Windows based computer system, and courteous telephone etiquette; customer service; completing tasks timely and free from excessive and or recurring mistakes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of skills, knowledge, and abilities listed above. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:
Must possess a High School Diploma from an accredited school with demonstrated ability in computer skills, workflow management, and the ability to work with little direct supervision. College degree or completion of college coursework in related fields desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work may involve a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms. Ability to transfer up to 25 pounds. Ability to sit continuously at a computer terminal for periods up to three hours. Ability to reach into file drawers in standard four drawer file cabinets. Visual ability sufficient to effectively operate a copier, facsimile machine, and a computer terminal and to read reports, correspondence, and instructions. Hearing ability sufficient to converse with other individuals, both in person and by telephone. Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and by telephone.
