Summary of Job Duties :
Travels to and gains access to various County buildings and County EMA siren locations to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems. a. Operates electronic testing equipment and power tools, (e.g., voltage tester, pipe bender, drill press, electric saw, meters, electric hammer) to perform job duties and responsibilities (e.g., installs and repairs light switches and outlets; building electrical systems, electronic locks etc.); Repairs electrical motors and power equipment; installs and repairs control, power, and lighting circuits; repairs heating and air conditioning units, desk lamps, etc.); b. Tests fire systems in County facilities according to frequencies established by the NFPA, State Fire Marshall and local authorities; services, installs, troubleshoots, tests and repairs fire alarm and smoke detectors; maintain all service and repair records.Interprets blueprints to determine materials, equipment and methods used for electrical projects.Cooperates with other trade personnel regarding new construction, renovation and building maintenance.Purchases supplies and materials as needed; stocks supplies upon delivery; maintains records of materials used on work projectsDemonstrates regular and predictable attendance.Performs duties of co-workers as required or assignedMinimum Qualifications :
Four (4) years apprentice experience in electrician field and / or other work experience which evidences a thorough knowledge of electrical systems and demonstrable skill in electrical installation and maintenancePossess license / certification to test, install, service and repair fire alarms systems. Required to participate in and adhere to all compulsory safety training and safety procedures provided by the County. Complete ASC Siren System Operation and Maintenance Certification Training within 6 months of hire.Valid driver's license issued by the state of residency.Hazardous Working Conditions
Work may be strenuous as times and may include bending conduit, lifting heavy objects, and standing, stooping and kneeling for long periods. Could require working outdoors and be subject to inclement weather. Lift up to 50 lbs without material handling device. Ability to use and wear personal protective equipment : half-face respirators / dust mask, safety glasses, body harness for fall protection, arc flash clothing level three protection (hard hat, Class 2 gloves / leathers, face shield, neck protector, coveralls, shirts, pants), earplugs / muffs and hand protection. Works with sharp or rough materials and uses sharp tools and power equipment. May work outdoors and be subject to variable weather conditions.
Position Specific Qualifications
Meet maximum weight requirements for ladders, personal fall protection equipment, and aerial lifts. Maximum lbs. include man and tools. Type 1A "Extra Heavy-Duty Industrial Ladder" - maximum capacity of 300 lbs. Type 1AA "Special Duty Industrial Ladder" - maximum capacity of 375 lbs. Most personnel fall arrest equipment (full-body harness & lanyards) is labeled with a capacity limit of 310 lbs. Single Man Lifts - 300- 350 lbs.Work Location and Hours :
