Summary Of Job Duties
- Examines and reviews technical complex and multi-faceted specifications, drawings and plans of proposals for buildings and/or structures (e.g., commercial, non-commercial, residential or private); ensures code compliance of architectural, mechanical, and structural design; recommends plan approvals or disapprovals of final permit documents; prepares reports reflecting review resRequests that modifications be made to plans as required; responds to inquiries regarding interpretation and application of building codes and other related matters; works with owners, architects, engineers and contractors on job requirements, code problems, etc.; provides training assistance and guidance to Building Inspectors regarding code interpretation and application.ults, recommendations, etc.; reviews site plans and building design for compliance with County Flood Management regulations.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, etc.; compiles files for construction projects and other related information; represents agency in hearings before appeal board and/or court.
- Assists with adoption of Hamilton County Building Code (e.g., recommends revisions).
- Visits sites to make field inspections and ensure code compliance.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- May performs duties of co-workers as workload dictates.
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer
- Ten (10) years of combined experience in building design and construction, including five (5) years experience as a Master Plans Examiner in Ohio
- a thorough knowledge of the Ohio Building Code, residential and commercial building codes, construction techniques, architectural drawings and plans, inspection techniques and public relations
- demonstrable physical fitness
- the ability to obtain access to required work sites
- valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency.
- Master Plans Examiner and Building Official certification as issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards.
- Registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer
- Five (5) years experience in project management in area of building design and construction
- Two (2) years experience in plans examination with a certified building department under the Ohio Board of Building Standards
- a demonstrated thorough knowledge of Ohio Building Code, construction techniques, architectural drawings and plans, inspection techniques and public relations
- demonstrable physical fitness
- valid driver's license issued by the state of residency.
- Master Plans Examiner certification of competency as issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards.
- Registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer with five (5) years of experience in building design and construction
- a demonstrated knowledge of Ohio Building Code, construction techniques, architectural drawings and plans, inspection techniques and public relations
- demonstrable physical fitness
- valid driver's license issued by the state of residency.
- Upon hiring, incumbents in the position must be able to obtain an interim or trainee status as a Master Plans Examiner certified by the Ohio Board of Building Standards within three (3) years
