Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Public Health Nurse in the Division of Disease Prevention. Requirements include: Ohio RN licensure or multistate licensure plus one (1) year experience. Experience in Public Health Nursing preferred.. Experience with Epic highly desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in state of residency. Must maintain current Basic Life Support CPR and AED (BLS) certification; willingness to undergo FIT testing. This position must abide by all state and federal laws, rules and HCPH policies and procedures. Must be skilled in operating a personal computer. This position performs high level professional duties and responsibilities in the care and treatment of patients at and for Hamilton County Public Health.
Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Tuberculosis case management and contact investigations.
- Phone and in person triage/assessment for STI testing.
- Provides public health nursing services for patients (adults and children) in the disease prevention clinic and in the community.
- Obtaining and processing lab specimens including blood draws, sputums and processing lab reports.
- Conducting direct observed therapy in clinic or fieldwork.
- Administering immunizations and injections.
- Ability to navigate the Epic EMR system.
- Provide education, schedule appointments, provide follow up treatment for those needing additional treatment.
- Selected immunizations or titers and/or periodic screening for tuberculosis may be recommended for this position.
- May be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

Tuition Reimbursement- Non-Probationary full-time employees may be eligible for up to $9,000 annually in tuition reimbursement.
Medical Insurance –Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service. Three plan choices are available through United Health Care (UHC) with varying contributions, co-insurance and co-payment structures. All three plans have the same pharmacy benefit.
Dental Insurance - There are two options available, both plans cover preventive services at 100% without a deductible or copayment. Other dental services are covered at varying percentages. The Premium Plan provides for Orthodontic coverage.
Vision Insurance – Employees may elect vision insurance, which provides coverage for eye exams, eyeglasses (lenses and frames), and contact lenses at participating providers. Employee contributions are deducted bi-weekly on a pre-tax basis.
Life Insurance - Provided at no cost for the employee only, coverage is equal to one times annual salary up to the policy maximum. Additional Supplemental Life Insurance is available for purchase for employee, spouse, and dependent children. Group rates are based on age and tobacco-use status.
Long Term Disability Insurance - Voluntary plan with two options available. Plan options replace 40% of pay up to a monthly maximum of $2400, or 50% of pay up to a monthly maximum of $3000. Benefit is reduced by most other sources of disability income. Benefit payments begin after 90 days of disability.
Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) - Employee contribution is 10% of pay on a pre-tax basis. Employer contribution is 14%.
Deferred Compensation Plans - In addition to the Ohio PERS retirement plan, a voluntary savings program is available that allows employees to set aside a portion of their income on a pre-tax basis to supplement retirement benefits.
