The Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences (CSAS) is a Paideia- themed magnet school that serves grades K-12, with our upper school serving grades 6-12.  We enroll students from across Hamilton County, and this diversity allows our students to experience the myriad perspectives in the workforce and in life.  Our school is small, and we work to create a community where students and teachers can work collaboratively.   At CSAS, we believe that all students can learn and deserve the best teachers and a rigorous liberal arts curriculum.  Our Paideia philosophy encourages our students to have civil discourse;  we want our students to be open-minded, life-long learners, who desire to benefit society. 

We are looking for teachers who are coachable and are strong in their content areas.  Our teachers possess strong emotional intelligence, thoroughly enjoy working with children, are collaborative, and are ready and willing to work beyond the 9-4 workday.

Responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee State English Language Arts Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson.  Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement high leverage literacy practices.  Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:

• Responsive Teaching and Learning 
2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture.  Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset. 
3. Family & Community:  Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.  Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. 
4. Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning.  Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

• Teaching candidates must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in English/Language Arts 6-8, 6-12 English or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license. 
• Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.

Compensation

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.

Salary Scale
