Red Bank Middle School is a 6-8 school located in Chattanooga, TN. Red Bank Middle is a diverse community with strong community support. We have implemented "The Red Bank Way" to drive consistent collaboration and communication with our feeder schools. We want students and families to experience this level of commitment as they transition from elementary to middle to high school in regards to instructional expectations and experiences.
Our goal at RBMS is to create an engaging learning environment for students through collaborative practices among faculty and staff. We want students to be able to have a strong understanding of state standards and how these standards create opportunities that will help shape their futures.
We are looking for educators who have experience working with diverse populations. Our teachers must be willing to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to advance our mission of educating the students in the Red Bank community.
Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Academic Standards for Fine Arts and establish clear learning targets and lesson plans for every lesson. Build rigorous aligned assessments, administer district assessments, and consistently implement instructional best practices. Facilitate individualized instruction leading to successful student auditions for local, regional, and state honor clinic ensembles and other awards and recognitions. Ensembles should be prepared to perform at regional Concert Performance Assessment. The teaching contract includes additional work days to encompass evening and weekend events including clinics and festivals, contests, and auditions. Any additional work days should be used to facilitate a beginner clinic prior to the start of the school year.As provided under the TN Academic Standards for Fine Arts “Perform” domain, curricular ensembles will perform at least 3 concerts each school year.

The Band teacher may engage students in additional ensembles including but not limited to the following: Jazz Band, Modern Band, Guitar, Chamber Ensembles, and others.
The Band teacher may also be asked to teach classes including but not limited to the following: General Music, Music History, Music Theory, and others at the request of the school principal.
- Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture that fosters student responsibility for personal and ensemble music equipment. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset and student-leaders are cultivated.
- Family & Community: Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. The Band teacher must continuously promote the program to ensure that at least 20% of the student body participates in Band programming.
- Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school and district-wide Fine Arts department. Maintain accurate instrument and equipment inventory. Manage the Band program budget to facilitate continuous improvement and opportunities for students.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
- Teaching candidates must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in Music Education (K-12) or be an upcoming graduate in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license.
- Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.

Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
Salary Scale
