Advanced Manufacturing is a critical sector of Tennessee’s economy. Compared to the national rate of 5.2 percent, job creation in Tennessee is soaring in manufacturing fields, accounting for $30.2 billion in manufactured goods exported every year and a nine percent overall increase over the last four years. After several consecutive years of strong job gains, the demand for skilled workers shows no sign of slowing.
The Welding program of study is designed to prepare and certify students as entry-level welders. The CTE Welding Teacher will teach courses in welding including Principles of Manufacturing, Welding I, Welding II and facilitate a Manufacturing Practicum.
Sequoyah High School is a 9-12 choice school located in Soddy Daisy, TN. Our school is focused on providing students with the skills, training, and industry certifications necessary to leave high school prepared to enter the workforce and/or post-secondary education. At Sequoyah, students from across Hamilton County can choose to attend and participate in a specific program of study.

Responsibilities
Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.
- Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
- Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
- Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.
Classroom Management & Relationships:
- Fosters a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.
Family & Community:
- Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
- Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning.
- Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.
Qualifications
Occupational Teaching License:
- Endorsement: Welding 705
- CTE Occupational License Guide
Minimum Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or above
Occupational Work Experience:
- Five year of full time work experience out of the past eight years, required
- Examples of qualifying work experience include: welders and individuals with experience in blueprint reading, layout and fabrication using oxy-fuel cutting SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW processes on various metals
Industry Certification Required:
- AWS or US Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Certified Welding Educator Certification, or NOCTI Welding 5279 required.
Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
Salary Scale
