The instructor will focus on the skills and knowledge needed for careers within the hospitality industry, including hotel management, customer service, and travel advising. In this program of study, students investigate the impact of the hospitality industry on the local and global economy, marketing foundations and functions, and human resource management.
This position is an essential component of our thriving Future Ready Institute of Hospitality and Tourism.
Ooltewah High School is a 9-12 School in Ooltewah, TN, just outside of Chattanooga. We are the second largest school in Hamilton County, serving just under 1300 students. Our school was established in 1907 and we have a rich tradition of excellence, including strong community and parent support.

Responsibilities
Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.
- Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
- Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
- Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.
Classroom Management & Relationships:
- Fosters a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.
Family & Community:
- Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
- Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning.
- Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience in the hospitality/tourism industry strongly preferred.
- Must hold a TN teaching license with one of the following endorsements: (152) Business Education, (158) Marketing Education, or (154) Family & Consumer Sciences
- If candidate does not possess a teaching license, candidate should have an undergraduate degree in marketing, business or related field and be willing to complete requirements for a job-embedded teaching license while teaching in the position.
Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
Salary Scale
