The purpose of this classification is to plan, design, develop, implement, and maintain software applications for various departments to ensure accurate data processes, reports and databases.
Responsibilities
- Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
- Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders.
- Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitors performance and manages parameters to provide prompt responses to users.
- Creates high-level reporting systems.
- Work with Business Systems Analyst to analyze and design new program applications or enhancements to existing systems.
- Analyses the needs of users and monitors user access and security.
- Updates, maintains, and reviews performance on all district SQL databases
- Ensures transactional and daily backups are performed.
- Sets up new SQL databases.
- Audits, modifies and amends data in systems using SQL commands and bulk import.
- Creates SQL views for data interfaces to other systems.
- Ensures accuracy of all processing of information of assigned software applications.
- Handles routine requests for modifications or in-house additions to the system.
- Trains the end users on any changes.
- Installs new components.
- Resolves complex problems relating to software or file errors.
- Maintains existing application programs to reflect changes requested by user.
- Assists other programmers with programming languages, debugging and using utility routines.
- Assists end users regarding problems or the use of their system.
- Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas and/or work areas are safe.
- Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Attends work regularly and arrives to work on time.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics.
- Writes and updates user documentation.
- Troubleshoots server level issues.
- Coordinates vendor and user meetings.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary or as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Nine (9) years of server, network and systems design experience required.
- Knowledge of technical hardware and software programming analysis methods and practices required.
- Knowledge of technical programming maintenance and repair required.
- Knowledge of Visual Basic .NET, C , VB Script, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS and C# preferred.
- Knowledge of programming and design methods, practices and procedures required.
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Skill in analyzing customer/client needs
- Skill in creating, designing, programming and implementing and troubleshooting program applications
- Skill in providing technical support and training to staff and end users
- Skill in utilizing verbal and written communication to develop and present reports
- Skill in utilizing customer service/public relation techniques when responding to inquiries and complaints.
- Work evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice, as needed.
Compensation :
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
