Lead the Hamilton County School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the district level by facilitating the professional learning, planning, research, and modeling required for CTE teachers and leaders both at the district level and at the building level. Provides ongoing job-embedded professional development; models effective instructional strategies; and leads discussions in evidence-based research with teachers, instructional coaches, and instructional leaders across the district. Works with the Director of Future Ready Students in order to provide Hamilton County CTE students with Early PostSecondary Opportunities within their CTE Program of Study.
Responsibilities
- Develop effective, contemporary, professional, and responsive programs to meet area economic and workforce needs.
- Analyzes data, determines if performance standards and benchmarks are met, and makes recommendations for improvement plans.
- Collects documentation from new CTE teachers and prepares application for initial teacher licensure. Provides Professional Development Orientation for new CTE teachers on the prescribed coursework and requirements for licensure.
- Coordinates data collection required for facility renovations needed to improve on upgrade course sequences in Career and Technical Education and make recommendations based on data.
- Maintains working relationship with school staff, community, and state agencies as necessary to obtain and communicate information required to implement all aspects of the Career and Technical Education programs.
- Maintains close working relationships with community and state agencies and area business industries, and labor organizations, in order to provide training consistent with needs, and establishes advisory committees as needed.
- Monitors the evaluation and follow-up of career/technical program concentrators.
- Provides Professional Development, and follow up to ensure all CTE teachers meet their 5 Size, Scope, and Quality Indicators set by the State for achieving quality program status for Perkins funding.
- Works with career/technical teachers individually and departmentally to assist in program development, improvement, and review. Provide Professional Development ensuring labor market information is used to inform all Programs of Study. Training teachers, faculty, specialized instructional support personnel and career guidance to effectively teach students, including a focus on students with disabilities and English Learners. Supports and trains teachers on Work Based Learning to enhance student performance.
- Coordinate equipment installation, repair, and disposal
- Coordinate new lab construction, including electrical, plumbing with HCS maintenance, and or outside vendors
- Monitors Work Based Learning Coordinators, programs, and placement
- Compile and enter district data for state reporting
- Provides Professional Development for all CTE teachers on state reporting and SSQI folders
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Active Tennessee Teaching License
- 3 Years Experience Teaching in a Career and Technical Education classroom
Skills/Qualifications:
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
- Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
