Brainerd High

Brainerd High School is a dynamic high school located in the heart of Chattanooga, TN.  Our school community is made up of students with deep and powerful cultural roots and a compelling history. 

At Brainerd, great teachers matter! We recognize that teachers are the single most impactful variable in student learning outcomes. Hamilton County Schools is committed to graduating all students ready for college, career and community.  All students at our comprehensive high schools are enrolled in a Future Ready Institute - a CTE pathway leading to industry certification.  A wall-to-wall Future Ready school, Brainerd’s three Future Ready Institutes (Institute of Aviation, Institute of Entrepreneurship, and the Institute of Law, First Responders, and Forensic Science) provide students with opportunities to gain experience in various fields of study. Our teachers bring their experience in the field to our classrooms and create real world opportunities for students.

1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Science Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson.  Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently engage students with science and engineering practices (SEPs).  Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:

2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture.  Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset. 
3. Family & Community:  Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.  Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. 
4. Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning.  Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

• Teaching candidate must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in 6-12 Science or be an an upcoming graduate in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license. 
• Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.

Compensation

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.

Salary Scale
