DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of maintenance and customer service duties to support the Sheriff’s Office and performs related duties as assigned.

TASKS: Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office designated buildings and surrounding areas:
· Clearing rubbish, weeds, brush and debris
· Light painting duties
· Watering all flowers and plants on the grounds
· Weeding, trimming, and mulching plants using gardening tools
· Taking care of all groundskeeping supplies, tools and inventory
· Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and usable by guest and visitors
· Soft and pressure washing sidewalks and buildings as necessary
· Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary
· Enforcing scope of City Greens Mowing, weed eating. edging
· Litter pickup
· Office Furniture moves
· Reporting of improvements
· Pressure washing
· Light bulb changing
· Window Cleaning
· Paint touch-up of Fire lanes & curbing
· Parking Lot Maintenance including drain cleaning
· Carpet Cleaning & Floor Buffing requests through CMS
· Pest Control contract enforcement and jail entry escorting
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma or GED. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires a significant amount of standing, walking, climbing, carrying, kneeling, driving etc. The ability to lift or carry at least seventy (70) pounds is required. This classification involves work performed in an office, warehouse, correctional facilities and in an outdoors environment; may be exposed to dangerous machinery and extreme weather conditions; exposed to incarcerated inmates of different security levels inside the correctional facilities who may exhibit emotional and combative tendencies toward those in authority. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of pre-employment and random drug testing.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of service manuals and other documentation related to equipment and tools, usage and operation.
Knowledge of relevant Federal, State and County codes and regulations relating to building maintenance and workplace safety.
Knowledge of Sheriff’s Office geography, facilities and work sites.
Knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology, hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials.
Skill in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying applicable Federal and State rules and regulations, Sheriff’s Office Policies and Procedures.
Skill in the use and operation of a variety of tools and machinery associated with service manuals and drawings.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, other County departments and contractors.
