Position Summary
The Custodian will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment across classrooms, offices, common areas, and other spaces within the early childhood programs. Responsibilities include performing assigned maintenance and cleaning tasks to uphold the facility's appearance and functionality. The Custodian will adhere to established health and safety procedures, conducting regular inspections to ensure that the facility and grounds are free of hazards. Additionally, the role may require delivering meals to designated worksites in the absence of the meal service delivery person.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily meal deliveries to multiple program sites, when necessary
- Perform thorough daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies.
- Ensure restrooms are sanitized and consistently stocked with appropriate supplies, including hand soap and towels.
- Collect and dispose of trash throughout the facility promptly.
- Assist with setting up or moving equipment and furniture as required for program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- At least one year of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Food handling certification is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs., is essential.
- Flexibility with work hours is necessary.
- Must possess basic English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing to follow written schedules and maintain health and safety checklists.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM, 35 hours per week
Compensation: $16.50 per hour - Compensation is based on credentials with DC 37 Local 95 – Union Position, and generous benefits
