Health and Safety Nutrition Monitoring Specialist

The Health and Safety Nutrition Specialist will support affiliated providers to be in compliance with all Network, Head Start and OCFS/DOHMH/OHS regulations.
Responsibilities:
Visit affiliated provider homes monthly utilizing the monitoring form to ensure proper integration of all HS/OCFS/DOHMH regulations.
Conduct quarterly CACFP meal observation visits to ensure CACFP compliance
Follow-up regular monitoring visits with supportive strength- based, and culturally competent coaching and corrective actions, as necessary.
Maintain careful documentation of all visits and communication with affiliated providers in a timely manner and align with the Early Childhood Framework for
Quality (EFQ).
Regularly check the OCFS website for “Dear Provider” letters and other communication from NY State to stay knowledgeable about the license and registration requirements for all affiliated providers and to ensure affiliates remain free from violations with DOHMH.
Assist Network Director with the recruitment and affiliation process for family childcare providers.
Collaborate with the Family Worker to connect parents/caregivers to appropriate resources and make necessary referrals to community partners
Support the Network team with the coordination and implementation of workshops, special events, and other Network activities as well as upkeep of a thorough resource guide for families .
Qualifications, Skills and Specifications:
Must hold a Child Development Associate Credential or Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, public health, or similar
Certification on nutrition, health and safety required
Must possess excellent understanding of early childhood education principals and adolescent developmental stages
Strong applicants will have experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or families with young children
Ability to travel on public transportation or utilize own transportation for required site travel
Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and deadlines
Compensation: $40,000 - $43,000 Dependent on experience
*Salary based on credentials with DC 37 Local 205
Union Position, with generous benefits
Hours: 35 Hours per week Typically Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (with some evening shifts for necessary home visits each quarter )
